Will you still love me when I’m no longer young and beautiful?
– Lana del Rey

Schweiz. Exit. 2025.

Three vampires—rooted in Caribbean, Mesopotamian, and European mythologies—meet and are confronted with their different origins, ideas, and experiences of immortality. As hybrid monster-human creatures, they haunt our nights and wonder what immortality means in a world where death is omnipresent and blood has become a commodity.

They remind us that the causes of our pain are not new – and that we, too, can learn from history.

It is within our differences that we are both most powerful and most vulnerable...”
Audre Lorde’s words form the foundation of this play, which weaves together diasporic stories and does not dispel the ghosts of our history, but names them.

“Blood Reign” critically questions the Anglo-American vampire we have come to know and love through characters such as Edward Cullen and Damon Salvatore, and instead focuses on queer and Afrofuturistic vampire stories.
